Battleship Island Sets a New Record in Korean Film Production History

On the 27th of July, “Battleship Island”, a South Korean World War II film, is known to break a record having 970,000 moviegoers on its opening day, according to the computerized tally from the Korean Film Council.

It has sold over 71.4 percent of the movie tickets. Including the pre – screening, the movie has accumulated a total of 991, 811 viewers (Wednesday and Thursday data only). The lead stars of the movie were Song Joong Ki, So Ji Sub and Hwang Jung Min.

The numbers are said to rise more as it still showing in cinemas nationwide. Fans around the world are still waiting for the movie to be shown on their respective countries.

“Battleship Island” is one of the most expensive South Korean films ever made. An approximation of the budget is 25 billion won (US $22.3 million). The movie has to sell more than 7 million tickets to break even.
